Privacy Policy
Website
This website (aibattery.dev) does not collect any personal data. There are no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no third-party scripts that monitor your behavior. The only external requests are to the GitHub API to display the repository's star and download counts — this request does not include any identifying information about you.
The App
AI Battery is a native macOS menu bar app. It reads Claude Code's and the Codex CLI's local JSONL session logs for token counts and context health — never your message content (Codex message lines are rejected before they are parsed at all). Rate limits come from a minimal request to your provider.
Network requests
AI Battery makes the following network requests — nothing else:
- api.anthropic.com — reads your Claude 5-hour / 7-day usage each refresh cycle (~3 tokens per call)
- console.anthropic.com — Claude OAuth 2.0 sign-in (PKCE, same protocol as Claude Code)
- status.claude.com — Anthropic's status page, for outage alerts
- chatgpt.com — with a Codex account: the usage endpoint for 5-hour / weekly windows and credit budgets (no tokens spent)
- auth.openai.com — Codex OAuth 2.0 sign-in with ChatGPT (PKCE, same protocol as the Codex CLI; the browser redirects back to
127.0.0.1:1455on your Mac) - status.openai.com — OpenAI's status page, filtered to the five Codex components
- api.openai.com — only for OpenAI API-key accounts: one request to validate the key when you add it, then a 16-token probe each refresh to read the per-minute limit headers (billed at API rates)
- api.github.com — checks for new versions once per day
- kylenesium.github.io — Sparkle appcast for in-app updates (on update click only)
What AI Battery does not do
- No analytics or telemetry — no usage data, crash reports, or diagnostics are transmitted.
- No tracking — no cookies, fingerprinting, or third-party trackers of any kind.
- No data storage outside your machine — all data stays in local files on your Mac. OAuth refresh tokens are stored in macOS Keychain.
- No message content access — AI Battery reads token counts from Claude Code's and the Codex CLI's logs, never your conversation content.
~/.codexis read-only;auth.jsonis read once, only when you click Import.
Authentication
AI Battery uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE for both providers — the same protocols Claude Code and the Codex CLI use. You can connect up to 3 Claude and 3 Codex accounts. Refresh tokens (or, for an OpenAI API-key account, the key itself) are stored in macOS Keychain, Apple's encrypted credential store; access tokens are held in memory only. The sign-in email (Codex) or workspace name (Claude) that labels an account is kept in the app's preferences — it is not a credential — and is masked in the popover by default.
